  • Converting inefficient interfaces and transition points through transferrable thought constructs and safety.

  • Embedding inclusion, diversity of thought, engagement, collaboration, and self-expectation to engage and act.

  • Increasing individual and group option access, facilitating agility, ideation, speed of thinking, information sharing, and learning.

 

Convert inefficient interfaces and transition points by knowing how to use transferrable structure. To understand this, realize that using prefabrication increases the speed of building construction by 20-50%. Similarly, knowing effective thought constructs will increase the speed of constructing shared mental models, ideation, and decision making.

 

Further facilitate this by embedding business philosophies like pluralism and universality to create a culture of inclusion, diversity of thought, engagement, collaboration, and empowerment.

High-level adaptability and agility are dependent upon the number and quality of generated potential options. With each choice, a different set of options become available. Narrative complexity expert Sonja Blignaut calls this our option landscape, and it is crucial to understand choices change it. Companies that want agility, need to eliminate cognitive bias as much as possible. Cognitive bias--an inaccuracy or blindness in what is known--prevents you from being agile. If the best option is never conceived, it is taken only by accident. That is no way to run a business.

Businesses can embed agility and resiliency, at the operations, process, policy, group and individual level.  Cybernetics laws, which facilitate effective and speedy communication tells us to have:

  • A recursive operations structure to reduce, even eliminate hierarchy (and bureaucracy)

  • Power distributed and pushed down (devolution)--a "direction, not detail" strategy

  • Transparency and accessibility--speedy, easy access

  • Decision making ability and authority moved as close to the situation as possible

  • Informed policy making, responsive to the "variety" of the environment (e.g., not waiting until the law says to change, or your competition already has!)
